R&D prioritization matrix
Worked example · prioritization matrix
Score candidate initiatives on impact, effort, confidence and strategic fit, then sequence them.
An illustrative worked example from the Citizen Development Governance Model demo. Reuse the columns for your own list; the value is in writing the sequencing recommendation, not just the scores.
Matrix
| Initiative | Impact | Effort | Confidence | Strategic fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Automated code-review assistant | High | Medium | High | High |
| Internal knowledge-base chatbot | Medium | Low | High | Medium |
| Computer-vision QA tool for hardware testing | High | High | Medium | High |
| Exploratory agent framework for R&D scripting | Unknown | High | Low | Medium |
Recommendation
Prioritize the code-review assistant first, high impact, high confidence, manageable effort. Keep the computer-vision QA tool on the roadmap but staged behind it, given the higher effort and only medium confidence. Treat the exploratory agent framework as a small, time-boxed research spike rather than a committed initiative until confidence improves.
